what's brewing - news from DB Breweries

June 2010 // Issue #5 www.db.co.nz

Hello Matt!

Welcome to the June issue of What's Brewing!

There's certainly a lot of activity on at the moment with DB's brands; Heineken launches its first on-pack promotion to support its Worldwide Partnership with Rugby World Cup 2011; Monteith's encourages everyone to show their wild side by entering the first ever Monteith's Wild Recipe Competetion.

Export 33 continues to delight drinkers the world over by winning yet another award; and, speaking of awards, several of DB's popular brands picked up awards at the 2010 Australian Beer Awards.

We hope you enjoy this issue!

Heineken launches once-in-a-lifetime promo

Specially-marked Heineken pack

While most Kiwis can only dream of attending the Rugby World Cup 2011 Final, three lucky people will be doing just that – and much, much more thanks to Heineken.

Heineken, a Worldwide Partner and Official Beer of Rugby World Cup 2011, is about to launch a ‘2011 Live it with Heineken’ promotion that offers Kiwis the chance to win one of three incredible prizes of a trip for two to the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley, London; an exclusive European music event; and the Rugby World Cup 2011 Final.

Also up-for-grabs are 30 Heineken double door stainless steel fridges and 100 Heineken at-home bar kits.

The annual Monteith’s Beer and Wild Food Challenge has started. As of Friday, 4 June, all participating restaurants began serving their specially-created wild food dish with a Monteith’s beer match.

The challenge has started with a hiss and a roar; we’ve received 100s of votes already and know there’s plenty more to come as consumers visit participating restaurants to sample the wild food dishes on offer.

And the Wild Recipe Competition has been enjoying similar popularity: we've received a bunch of entries and the number just keeps growing!

DB's brands pick up more awards

The DB’s award-winning brewing credentials have been given another boost with a great result at the 2010 Australian International Beer Awards.

DB’s Natasha O’Brien, a Brewer based at the company’s Waitemata site, was among the 30 judges who took on the challenge of assessing 1200 entries from 242 breweries across 34 countries.
